About Toyin Adekale

Toyin Adekale, singer/songwriter/actress and now author, born in London to West African parents, had a successful career in music as a singer/songwriter, traveling all over the world (covering 5 of 7 continents), performing for Kings & Queens, Presidents & Prime Ministers and dignitaries. Her platform was as varied as her life from clubs, theatres and stadiums, to Palaces and State buildings such as the Houses of Parliament in London, St James Palace, to the Kremlin in Russia.

Toyin lists amongst her many highlights, singing the National Anthem for Nigeria’s Eagles Soccer Team at London’s QPR grounds against the infamous Jamaica Reggae Boyz, as one of many cherished moments, not to mention a brief encounter with legendary inspiration, Diana Ross and interviewing the late great Bob Marley’s Mother, Cedella Booker.

Toyin Adekale’s career started at the tender age of 15 as a solo artist, where she also discovered her gift for harmony. Having sung with most of the reggae greats from Dennis Brown, Delroy Wilson, Beres Hammond, Ken Boothe, Freddie McGregor, Sanchez and Gregory Isaacs, her gifts were sought by other genre’s where she became vocal coordinator/arranger and backing vocalist to the likes of Soul II Soul, Imagination, Cliff Richard, Maxi Priest, Carmel, Dave Stuart (Eurythmics), Gabrielle and sharing the stage with so many great names too numerous to mention.

During Toyin’s solo career she was the fourth member of world renowned Boney M (featuring Maizie Williams for 13 years). Through the entity of music, Toyin was drawn into theater through actor/director, Larrington Walker (from whom many great names aspired), taking her into more demanding lead roles with a list of successful plays behind her both in the UK and US. At this point, Toyin was motivated to pen her own play and thereafter her first book of short stories, “ I Do, Do You? ”

In 2005 Toyin Adekale came to the US with her children, putting her career, family and fans behind her to live a somewhat “normal life” of motherhood and a total change of lifestyle. In the first 2 years of Toyin’s transitioning to American life, she also faced some serious life changing challenges, dealing with health, divorce, children and helplessness brought on by life issues. During this time Toyin found a new calling on her life and an overwhelming desire to cause positive change and effect in other people’s lives. Toyin had touched people with her music in the past, but not the way she now desired.

Toyin’s writing skills and theatre experience, now combined with her musical background. Toyin was no longer merely pursuing a career of fame and fortune, she had once tasted. but adding a new path that is now pursuing her.

Toyin Adekale wore many belts as an artist. Founder/Director of the UK’s first reggae choir ‘Talithavoices’; CEO of label and Arts & Entertainments Company, Talithavoices Enterprise, an umbrella of all forms of artistic expression in the name of entertaining, whilst improving lives.

Following the sad loss of Toyin’s 21 year old son, in May 2018, and her Mother to Corona in April 2020, Toyin’s promise to them, before they left, has motivated her to push forward in bringing love, light and revelation, to all she encounters. As the pages unfold, inspirational stories are told in her book (with a single of the same title ” I DO, DO YOU? “
